Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the family.

This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to form the Questers and Planners tables.

Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
